Laura Mullen (RJFWA ’96) EtC (Solid Objects, November 2023)

EtC is a piercing and playful interrogation of Americanness, misogyny, agriculture, academia, and language. This collection explores contemporary American selfhood, socially mediated and economically motivated, within a system where we learn to see and represent ourselves as one marketable image among many, where ‘brand’ displaces character, and the corporal and corporate intersect.”

Laura Mullen is the author of eight books; recognitions for her work include MacDowell Fellowships, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and a Rona Jaffe Award. Her translation of Véronique Pittolo’s Hero was published by Black Square Editions in 2019. She holds the William R. Kenan Jr. Chair in the Humanities at Wake Forest University.
